Course overview | The skill and technical craftsmanship of making keyword for woodwind instruments is a dying art. During the four day intense course, you will be offered the opportunity to develop the skills needed to make a “Test piece” of keyword that incorporates all the techniques needed to enable you to adjust, make and alter keyword in your own workshop. You get to keep the finished result and it makes a very good calling card to show what your skill set is. Similar to the traditional “apprentice piece” of old.
Skills to be taught are: Design of keyword, selection of materials, choice and use of tools, bench layout, hand and machine skills to make woodwind keyword, silver soldering, assembly and fitting skills. This course requires lots of hand filing and practice.
