Course overview | Make your own Long Trumpet.
During this 5 day course you will be involved with making a complete Long Trumpet out of sheet brass. This course has been running in the US and Germany for a number of years and we are delighted to bring it to the UK again.
You will be familiarized with the production methods of the 17th and 18th centuries trumpet-maker and make your own long trumpet (without holes) in the style of an original by Hans Hainlein made in 1632 (Collection of Musical Instruments at the City Museum of Munich).
Participants will gain not only trumpet making skills but also historical and contextual understanding.
The course will begin with a health and safety talk and then continue almost exclusively with hands-on workshop time.
The course will end with the instruments you have made, that were once just flat-brass on the work-top, being played! Tea and cake will be provided for the occasion!
