Patchwork & Quilting | Turning Japanese
with Niki Chandler
Saturday 16th – Sunday 17th November | 10.00 -16.00 | £120
Immerse yourself in the ingenious world of Japanese Folded Patchwork. Wrapping fabric circles around fabric squares and then learn how to create flower patterns with further clever folding techniques. Enjoy exploring the myriad of design possibilities with this ‘quilt-as-you-go’ method that produces a 2 for 1 quilt; circles on the front and dynamic geometric designs on the reverse.
Instruction will include how to draft the templates and will also cover shape variations using triangles, diamonds and hexagons. Start an heirloom quilt or make a smaller item such as a wall hanging, table runner, cushion or bag. Both hand quilting and machine stitching are employed in construction.
Suitable for all levels. Students will need to provide their own materials. A comprehensive requirements list will be provided.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided but please bring packed lunches.
