Mondays | 9.30 – 12.30 | £200 | 10 weeks | 8th October-10th December
Using the characteristics of the Modern Quilt genre as our design focus (minimalist design, positive/negative space, straight line quilting) we will gradually create a unique quilt.
We will begin by generating a focused colour palette from a personal inspiration source* of your choice. This will be developed into a limited set of technique pieced blocks including ½ and ¼ square triangles, Log Cabin variations and Drunkards Path. With lots of tutor support you will be guided to build these elements into an original wall quilt, small bed quilt or similar quilted item.
LEVEL: Beginner/Intermediate. Ability to use a sewing machine is essential. It is not necessary to have done any patchwork techniques before.
We will supply specialist equipment for you to try and some sewing machines.
Students will need to provide all their own fabrics and waddings to complete the project. Detailed information will be provided during the first session.
*Students will need to bring a visual reference to work from in the first session. This can be a photograph, image from a magazine, a painting or even a favourite piece of ceramic homeware. Please choose something that inspires you for the colours. Select a source that has a good range of colours to be able to make a selection from.
