Making your Mark | Exploring Painting
with Cläre Basel
Thursday 26th – Friday 27th August 2021 | 10.00-16.30 | £130
This two-day, intensive painting workshop will introduce you to an intuitive way of painting. Allowing your work to develop in response to the choices you make along the way rather than presuming an outcome before you begin.
We will be using acrylics and collage materials to create a series of paintings. By immersing yourself for two consecutive days and developing work in a series you will have a chance to implement your learnings and discoveries and develop a better understanding of your authentic voice quickly and effectively.
A playful approach to working with the materials is encouraged and then pauses to evaluate and make considered decisions for focusing the work. Both these approaches increase our understanding and allow us to experience a relaxed joyful approach to painting.
This short course will address design value and colour and explore a variety of ways to work with acrylics. The primary focus is on abstract painting, but the processes and theories taught can be applied to representational work at a later date.
This course is suitable for beginners and those who want to extend their art practice.
All equipment and materials will be provided including tea, coffee and biscuits.
