Linocut for Textiles
with Lydia Finney
Sunday 3rd November 2019 | 10.00-16.00 | £80
This is a lovely introduction to both lino cutting, a printmaking process, and creating your own textiles!
On this course Lydia will talk through the basic techniques, how the materials work and what you need (including where to get it!) to complete the course and carry on linocutting and printing fabric at home. Her mission is to get you printing!
The method is very straight-forward, accessible for all abilities and easy to do at home… as printing goes, it’s pretty un-messy too! You will have the opportunity to explore your own designs and mix your own colours as well as using Lydia’s own linocuts and woodcut printing blocks. If you have your own woodcut blocks you are welcome to bring these too, just make sure they are clearly labelled or you have a photograph of yours so they don’t get muddled!
All the equipment and materials you need on the day will be provided, with plenty of scrap fabric to practice on, you will also get a lovely selection of supplies to to take home with you so you can continue to play.
Your kit will include: *5 Lino-cutting Tools * 2 pieces of Soft-Cut Lino * 1 Inking Tray *3 paint sponges * 50ml fabric paint 1 *blank tea towel *1 blank cotton tote bag.
This workshop is suitable for a complete beginner or those wishing to refresh their skills.
