Find out all about the wonderful world of dye plants available on your door step in this friendly and relaxed workshop.
With Fay’s wealth of experience and knowledge on this course you will learn all about the different barks, leaves and flower that can produce beautiful colours for natural fibres. Learn how and when to harvest them and how to store them well.
On this day course you will have the opportunity to dye six mini skeins in a variety of colours as well as calico fabric and a silk tester to see the difference between vegetable and animal fibres. You will make your own eco-friendly mordant to take home as well as finding out about the array of chemical and natural fixatives available.
While the dye pots do their thing you can try your hand at basic braid making and drop spinning.
This workshop is suitable for a complete beginner or those wishing to refresh their skills.
